Payment integration
Stripe integration
Taking a payment is the easy part. The work is in what happens next: marking the order paid, starting the subscription, telling accounting, and handling the card that fails. We connect Stripe to your systems so each payment event is dealt with once, correctly.

At a glance
What it is
Stripe is a payment platform that handles card and other payments, recurring billing, and payouts, and connects to your systems so each payment updates your records.
Problems it solves
Payments that are not connected to orders, accounts, and accounting lead to manual reconciliation, missed failures, and unhappy customers.
Who it suits
Businesses taking payments or running subscriptions online, and teams whose payments and records do not agree.
How to choose
Connect Stripe so every payment event updates your system automatically, and plan for failures, refunds, and disputes from the start.
What it means
A payment platform you connect to
Stripe is a payment platform. It takes payments on your behalf, manages recurring billing, and pays you out. Your software connects to it through an API, a set of agreed requests, and receives messages called webhooks when something changes.
Stripe handles the card details, which keeps sensitive data off your own servers. Your job is to keep your own records in step with what Stripe says happened.
Most integration problems are about that second job: a payment that succeeded but was never recorded, a renewal that failed silently, or a refund that did not reach accounting.

Choosing the right approach
What Stripe does not decide for you
Tax, invoicing rules, refund policy, and consumer rights depend on where you sell and what you sell. Stripe offers tools, but the decisions are yours, and your accountant or adviser should confirm them.
Fees and features also change. We check the current terms when we plan, and design so the payment provider could be swapped.
What goes wrong
The cases that need handling
| Case | What can happen | How we handle it |
|---|---|---|
| A message arrives twice | The same payment is recorded twice. | Each event carries an identifier, and repeats are ignored. |
| A message never arrives | A paid order stays marked unpaid. | A regular check compares Stripe's records with yours. |
| A card is declined on renewal | A subscription lapses without anyone noticing. | Retries, reminders to the customer, and an alert to your team. |
| A refund or dispute | Accounting and the order disagree. | The event updates the order and the accounting record. |
| A customer pays but closes the page | The order never completes. | The back end confirms from Stripe's message, not from the browser. |
The data flow
What passes between your system and Stripe
Information travels in both directions, and each direction has its own risks.

Reconcile
We add a check that compares Stripe's records with yours and flags any difference.
What it produces
- Reconciliation job
- Alerts
Go live carefully
We switch to live mode with a small real transaction, watch the first day, and keep a way back.

Common questions
Questions about Stripe
Is Stripe the right payment provider for us?
Often, but it depends on where you sell, the payment methods your customers use, and the fees. We compare it with options such as PayPal and Adyen when the choice is open.
Can you add Stripe to our existing store?
Usually. Platforms such as Shopify have their own payment set-up, so we check what is possible before suggesting a custom connection.
Can you handle subscriptions and invoices?
Yes. We connect plans, renewals, and failed-payment handling to your customer records and accounting.
What about security and compliance?
Using Stripe's hosted fields keeps card data off your servers, which reduces your burden. You still have responsibilities, and we explain which.

Technical depth
How we build with Stripe
What we settle early on Stripe work: events and webhooks, security, and quality, so nothing surprises your team later.
We treat webhooks as the source of truth for payment state, verify their signatures, store each event identifier to make handling idempotent, and process slow work in a queue.
- Card details are collected by Stripe's hosted fields or pages, so they never reach your servers.
- Secret keys live in a secrets store and are rotated.
- Test mode and live mode are kept strictly separate.
- Automated tests using Stripe's test cards and simulated events.
- A scheduled reconciliation job comparing Stripe's records with yours.
- Support for strong customer authentication where regulations require it.
