Technology consulting and digital transformation that pays off

We help you decide what to build, buy, or fix before you spend the money. You get a clear view of your systems, options in plain language, and a costed roadmap you can follow, whether or not we build it.

At a glance

What we build

We help you decide what technology to build, buy, connect, or leave alone, and plan the steps to get there before money is spent.

Every project gets its own squad from our 100+ engineers and designers: a project lead, a product designer, and engineers matched to your stack, with the same people from kickoff to launch.

Our approach

Clear advice before money is spent

We give independent, practical advice on technology decisions: what to build, buy, or connect, in what order, and what to avoid. When the answer is digital transformation, we mean changing how work gets done with technology, not buying more tools.

Most organizations do not lack tools. They lack a clear picture of what they have, what it costs, and what to do next. Advice that starts from that picture saves money, because the cheapest project is often the one you decide not to do.

We keep the advice plain. You should leave understanding the options, the trade-offs, and the reasons for our recommendation.

Choosing help

Four ways we can help

Consulting can be a single conversation or a longer partnership. Choose the lightest shape that settles your question.

How far along is your thinking?

Choose this when

You feel a problem but cannot yet describe it, or people disagree on what matters.

What you get
A clear problem statement, options, and a recommended next step, usually in a day or two.
Keep in mind
A workshop frames the problem. It does not replace deeper review.

How it works

From a question to a decision

Most consulting work follows the same short path. Each step produces something you can use on its own.

From a question to a decision

A sequence of 5 steps. Understand the goal: What are you trying to achieve, and what is at stake?; See what you have: Systems, costs, risks, and how people really work.; Set out the options: Build, buy, connect, or leave alone, with trade-offs.; Recommend a route: Priorities, order, and rough cost.; Hand over or deliver: You take the plan, or we help build it..

This diagram traces consulting work through five steps, from understanding the goal to a plan you can take elsewhere or have us deliver.

Useful at every step

Each stage produces something you can use even if you stop there.

Independent of delivery

You can take our roadmap to any team. We will not push you toward a build.

In plain words

Findings and options are written for decision makers, not only for engineers.

What you receive

What a consulting project produces

A team gathered around a laptop, with process maps and sticky notes covering the wall behind them.
  1. Technology audit

A clear review of your systems, with findings ranked by risk and cost.

  2. Technical discovery

Framing a project before it starts, so it begins with the right scope.

  3. Digital transformation roadmap

A phased plan for changing how you work using technology.

  4. AI readiness review

A check of your information, processes, and risks before you invest in AI.

  5. Solution design

The overall shape of a system, before detailed work begins.

  6. Technology and product strategy

Where technology should support the business over the next few years.

How we advise

Four promises about our advice

Honest

  • We recommend building less when that is right.
  • We say clearly what we do not know.

Practical

  • Advice you can act on within your budget and team.
  • Costs and risks stated plainly.

Independent of delivery

  • Our roadmap works with any provider.
  • We never make our own build look like the only choice.

Clear

  • Written for decision makers.
  • Jargon explained, and decisions recorded.

How a project runs

How an assessment runs

  1. Agree the question

We confirm what you need to decide and by when.

    What it produces

    • Scope
    • Success measure
  2. Gather facts

We talk to the people involved, review systems, and look at costs.

    What it produces

    • Interview notes
    • System and cost overview
  3. Analyze and compare options

We weigh options against your goals and constraints.

    What it produces

    • Options with trade-offs
  4. Recommend and explain

We present findings and a recommendation in plain language, and answer questions.

    What it produces

    • Report
    • Presentation
  5. Plan the next step

We turn the recommendation into a simple plan, and stay available as you decide.

    What it produces

    • Roadmap
    • Follow-up support

Choosing the right approach

How we pick the right approach

When a problem is clear and the solution is standard, you need a good provider and a short brief, and we will write that brief with you. When the choice is bigger or riskier, an assessment saves far more than it costs.

Questions we help with

The kinds of decision people bring to us

Some decisions are about choosing: should we buy a ready-made product, build something of our own, or connect the tools we already have? The honest answer depends on how unusual your process is, how many people use it, and how much change you can absorb.

Some are about order: we want a new website, better reporting, and automated invoicing. Which should come first, and what does each one depend on? A roadmap shows which pieces unlock others, so effort is not wasted.

Some are about risk: our systems are old, one person understands them, and nobody knows what would happen if they failed. An assessment finds the weak points and puts a price on fixing them, so the risk can be weighed against other spending.

And some are about whether to start at all. Sometimes a process is better changed on paper before any software is involved. We say so when that is the case.

  • Different teams had systems they wanted replaced, but the budget couldn't cover everything. I appreciated having someone challenge our assumptions and help us agree what actually needed attention first.

  • Honestly, we needed someone to tell us which parts of the process were worth fixing before we bought another system. We left with a decision list we could actually use.

Common questions

Questions about consulting

Is consulting separate from building?

Yes. You can take our advice to any provider. We can also build what we recommend, but we keep the two clearly separate so the advice is honest.

How long does a consulting project take?

A technology assessment usually takes 1 to 2 weeks and costs $2,000 to $6,000. A full transformation roadmap takes 2 to 4 weeks and costs $6,000 to $12,000. Ongoing advisory starts at $2,500 a month.

What if we only want help with AI?

We can focus on that. An AI readiness review looks at your information, processes, and risks, and suggests where AI can help and where it cannot. See our AI service.

Do you work with our existing suppliers?

Yes. We review what they have built, and can help you ask better questions and compare proposals.

Will you give us a price for the work that follows?

Yes. A roadmap includes rough costs for each phase, with ranges that narrow as details become clear.

How is this different from a one-off audit?

An audit tells you what is wrong. Consulting also sets out options and a route forward, and can continue while you act.

Have a different question?

Tell us what you are weighing up and we will answer it plainly.
